COVID-19 STATEMENT 2021
The last few weeks have been difficult for so many people within and beyond our own 2SLGBTQ+ community. Pride Durham recognizes that although we primarily serve the 2SLGBTQ+ community we realize that we are not alone and that we are part of a much larger human community. Pride Durham had been hoping that the COVID-19 pandemic would have dissipated by June, but with recent announcements from the Province, the City of Toronto, the Town of Ajax, Pride Toronto, and other North American Pride Festivals, it has become clear that will not be the case and that the Pride Durham Festival will not be able to go ahead as planned for the week of June 1 to June 7, 2020. The Pride Durham Board will be working hard to offer other ways for our community to celebrate together once the threat of COVID-19 has passed. We would like to thank our community partners and the Town of Ajax for their support for we look forward to working with them again in 2021.
Pride Durham asks that we all do our part to ‘flatten the curve’ of the virus by practicing healthy behaviours including but not limited to, social distancing, proper handwashing and sanitizing, and staying home as much as possible.
For those wishing to take in a ‘virtual pride’ watch for upcoming details about a Global Pride event on June 27th, 2020.
